Re: “A suspension and feuding in Bentonville School District over a borrowed Bobcat

Thanks, Max, for shining some sunlight on this issue. As someone who works close to this department at BPS I have seen how the Wallace theft has affected personnel, including me. I know that even if I could force myself to steal from the district, I would be led off the property in linked matching metal bracelets. But maybe no one will be arrested or terminated for stealing now. There is a new standard of conduct at BPS with the new administration. If you are the superintendent's BBF you can do no wrong.

I think the point a lot of people are missing is that Wallace did not take the district's Bobcat home. He rented the Bobcat with the district's money for his personal use, and he told a lot of lies to a lot of people about it. The district had no need for a Bobcat. So I am confused about the part in the letter that says the district PRORATED the Bobcat's charges. All the charges should have been paid because the Bobcat was never used at the district.

Another important point is that the superintendent let him use the Bobcat on the District's dime for two more months after she knew what he had done. She should explain why she allowed that. She can answer that question without discussing any "personnel issues."

Morale has sucked since this happened and it will not get any better. I know his friends are high-fiving him for dodging a bullet, but most people around here are completely disgusted and have lost all respect for him.
