  • A Q&A with Levi Agee, creator of 'Too Long; Didn't Read'

Inspired by the comedy-plus-current-events format of "The Daily Show" and SNL's "Weekend Update," Too Long; Didn't Read is a new monthly show to be held every first Thursday at The Joint, in Argenta, featuring a panel of comedians (most of whom are regular participants in the venue's Tuesday night "Hogging the Mic" stand-up series) riffing and opining on "everything from celebrity gossip, hyper-local news and Internet memes to global economic policy.”

  • Splice Microcinema continues with a pair of Arkansas B-Movies

Have you been going to Splice Microcinema, the mysterious (but unpretentious) and free (though donations are encouraged) underground screening series in the backroom at Vino's? I really hope that you have, particularly if you're a Little Rock film fan, which, let's face it, has always been a pretty unfortunate position to be in. It's also true, though, that things are looking up in the Rock lately, at least cinematically, from the Ron Robinson Theater's unveiling to the flourishing and increasingly well-respected (and forthcoming) Little Rock Film Festival. And the folks at Splice — writers and academics and filmmakers and enthusiasts — are contributing to this upswing in a major way.

Re: “A Q&A with Levi Agee, creator of 'Too Long; Didn't Read'

UPDATE: Due to weather and road conditions the Too Long; Didn't Read show is being pushed back one week to Thursday, March 12 at 8PM at the Joint. We might be adding some local news that pops up in the mean time. Senator. Cough. Daycare. Cough.

Re: “12-12-12 is Pepper Boy Day, so check out his killer new album "Nitetime'

At least I'm trying to get that rumor started...

Re: “Film festival adds Sundance winner 'Beasts of the Southern Wild'

Hey Sammy, both films are being distributed by studios so those were the only times we could schedule them as some of them are opening a wider release that weekend and make them still apart of the festival. Bernie is opening in Arkansas at Conway and I heard at Market ST (who knows how confident you can be in that assumption) so if you want to see them both I suggest watching Lola Versus at the festival and maybe catching Bernie in the Theater this weekend.

Re: “Strange things amiss in Hillcrest

I was totally thinking the same thing. He kind of looks like Mark Borchard from American movie too. "When I was back in High School!"

Re: “True Blood: Love hurts

I hated last night's epi. Just poor, poor writing. Sad coming from Ball. I think he knows what the show is, the CAMP factor was so over-the-top. Tara's face whilst biting Franklin was hilarious. The scene between Crystal and Jason made me want to bludgeon my own head with a mace. Sort of thought the relationship between Jesus and Lafayette was a cliche Alan Ball contrived gay scene. Didn't feel like there was much depth, just awkward sexual tension.

It felt like they tried to give Bill some kind of befitting death like they gave Godric, who was in maybe two episodes but his torture and dialogue was second-rate romance novel. Maybe I'm being too hard on a series about Vampires and Werewolves but I felt season one did well with its characters and their motivations.
