Re: “Oxford American, Chapter Umpteen

Smirnoff & Fitzgerald's Oxford American was a precious Southern treasure. It is heartbreaking to see it hijacked by an ambitious politician and his rich, powerful cronies. If the September issue is comparable to previous issues, it will be mainly because of whatever work Smirnoff & Fitzgerald left behind prior to Sabin's theft of the editorship. Smirnoff's wit and feistiness and Fitzgerald's ability to find great art was what made the magazine so special. If Sabin wants to be an editor he needs to edit himself into the background and give back Smirnoff and Fitzgerald their keys. Otherwise, Sabin needs to edit the name of the magazine because the true spirit of the real OA got locked out on that hot July day in Conway.
