Re: “Twenty problems with 20/20's coverage of the Justin Harris 'rehoming'

Ultimately, the kids lost out here. regardless of the abuse of power.

In our situation we were told by two psychiatrists to give our son up to the state in order to force the state to help him get the care he needs. We live in ND. Ultimately, the kids who are adopted that also have mental health diagnoses need every bit of help that can be found from where ever it can be found. Sadly. We are told that we don't do enough.

I would never rehome my son. He has already been abandoned once in his young life.

Do I disagree with rehoming? Yes. But that is a personal opinion and honestly, every child with RAD is different.

Sadly, ABC 20/20 could have presented four or five different shows out of this one situation and each could have touched on a different aspect of the case.

Reactive Attachment Disorder
Abuse of Power

Ultimately, there is a need for kids to have forever homes. However there is also a need for the families that adopt kids to get help with them when things are rough. And if you think that things don't get rough, I'd be happy to let you come and spend a couple of days with my son, supervised of course. I don't trust just anyone with him.
