Re: “Wednesday's open line

Our friendly OK senator's claim to fame -- legislation to ban fetal tissue in human food:

In January 2012, Shortey introduced legislation to ban the use of aborted human fetuses in food.[2] Shortey told members of the media that he had conducted Internet research which led him to believe a ban was necessary. The United States Food and Drug Administration said it was unaware of any concern. Specifically, the legislation would have prohibited the manufacture or sale of any food in which aborted fetuses were used in developing any of the ingredients. Shortey said that he was not aware of any Oklahoma companies that use aborted human fetuses.[3]

Re: “UPDATE: Bill to prohibit smoking marijuana passes Senate committee

Rapert argued smoking is harmful and not an acceptable means of delivering any medicine to a patient.

So lets amend this bill to include nicotine .. and we really would have a public health bill
