And believe it or not folks, there are some people who don't give a red rat's butt one way or another about it all, one being my Marymount University alum spouse !!!!! LOL.

Perhaps historian Tom Dillard will make an effort in one of his weekly Sunday columns in the Arkansas Dem. Gazette to explain the history of the powers in Little Rock which attempted to use the General Assembly circa 1920 to move the UofA from Fayetteville to Little Rock. That may explain a lot of things today that have been lost in the past......on purpose.

And I forgot my cut and paste:

"State-supported universities in Arkansas spent $176 million on athletics last year, a 6.3 percent increase over the previous year. Two-year colleges spent $600,000."~State Senator Larry Teague

Thus far, wannabe, you nor anyone else has attempted to answer my question to reveal what you know or not know about the past history of the topic: " Can anyone think of a UofA head football coach since Broyles -let's start with Lou Holtz- who left of their own free will? Anyone?"

The door is still open.

Me too, p.j. I commented when they hired him I hoped he understood Big Ten football would not win in the SEC. He didn't, apparently. That is what I was referring to when I commented he was just out of his element. Now, let's sit back and see who the powers to - be lure to the Ozarks to take his place and what his financial package will amount to, and see if the newbie will make a tad more than any history professor hired by the history dept. Someone like Dr. Robert Reeser. *grin*

plainjim, people who earn millions of dollars from the public institutions don't suffer from any loss of job. plainjim, do you truly, really believe the man earned his salary/benefits appreciably while taking on the responsibilities as the head man? None of this means he wasn't a likeable person but as with most things, performance has to taken into account and big bucks mean more is taken into account. And since you mentioned college professors, I doubt any you or I know will lose any sleep over his dire financial burdens as he moves on. I liked the man.....he was just out of his element.
