Re: “When Johnny Reb comes marching to Hot Springs

So enforce traffic laws, the monument and flagpoles are on land owned by the UDC. That ends the discussion, privately owned monument and flagpole. The KKK, BLM, and Antifa are all the same and are all bad. Teach real history not a northern fairytale of history. Leave monuments alone.

Re: “When Johnny Reb comes marching to Hot Springs

Maryland had no choice, Lincoln arrested the legislator and put them in Ft McHenry without charge nor trial. Ironicly one was Francis Scott Key's grandson.

Re: “Lynchings hidden in the history of the Hot Springs Confederate monument

The monument and land are owned by the UDC. End of story, move on.

Everything is on private land there, everyone should go away.

Re: “As Southern Republicans flee the Confederacy, Arkansas must reckon with R.E. Lee Day

Problem bear and rablib, just what was MLK's real name? Micheal. Did he legally change his name? No not that anyone has ever found. His your dad suddenly started calling himself George, and calling your George Jr., would that be your name if your Dad's name was Fred, and your birth certificate said Fred Jr. on it? No hall would still be Fred and Fred Jr. Unless you legally changed your names to George, correct? The same with Micheal King.

If you cheat to become a Dr., say use papers that someone else wrote, or cheat on your exams, do they revoke your doctorate? Yes did King cheat and use other people's writings and cheat on exams? Yes it appears to be the case.

If you chest on your wife like Clinton did, are you an adulterer? Yes, so was Micheal King.

If you kill or have others killed are you a murderer? Yes....

Now blacks have some wonderful role models, like George Washington Carver, Booker T. Washington, Levi Carnine, Mack Lee, Napoleaon Winbush, etc... They don't have to settle for a second rate hero that looks like them. Heroes come in all colors.

No one can attack Lee's character, for that he is remembered. He was a Godly man, and a skillful man.

No one is to be worshiped except God. I don't even have a problem of people celebrating King day, as long as they allow me to celebrate Lee day as well.

Re: “As Southern Republicans flee the Confederacy, Arkansas must reckon with R.E. Lee Day

They added Michael king day to Robert E lee's birthday, not the other way around. He fought for states rights and because of the oppressive taxes placed on the South.

To even try to say that Micheal king day was celebrated since 1870 in Arkansas is ridiculous. Lee's bday was official since 1907 and a holiday where all colors of state employees have been off from work since the 1940's.

Micheal King was an adulterer, a murderer, and a thief, while Lee upheld morals and was one of the most moral me in history.

Let's leave REL, and do away with the Michael King celebration.

Re: “As Southern Republicans flee the Confederacy, Arkansas must reckon with R.E. Lee Day

Robert E. Lee day wasn't put on Michael King day. Lee's bday was celebrated in the state from his death in 1870. Officially after his 100th birthday in 1907, and a holiday from the 40's forward. Tell me again when was Michael King born?
