Re: “God and gays at Harding University

When i address this issue i am talking to people who do claim christianity. if you don't claim christianity then there is no part for you in my posts, only because i know not everyone thinks the way i do. but Harding is a christian university. therefore they have to keep christian ethics in mind. so the university takes a stand where God takes His stand. we are not bigots and we don't condemn people to hell. we strive to teach what is true in the light of love.

For example, my parents loved me therefore they told me no when I did something that was wrong because they loved me not because they hate me. If they didn't discipline me as a child I would have grown up to be a brat. I’m thankful to them for telling me no. It’s the same with God, He tells us no too. He tells us no on many things like greed, pride, and lust, ECT. Also I agree with the post that is talking about us carrying out our beliefs. If a private university is founded on the basis of the bible then they must stay within the guidelines of the bible. I can't go to a Muslim university and expect that my religion would be accepted there, because they have their own beliefs too. I know some people have no choice but Harding is not aiming to target or discriminate, they only try to practice what they preach. This university is not perfect and it never will be. But, we do serve a perfect and loving God. That is the hope that I live by. Christians do not want strife between people we only want for the evil in the world to go away. I know I won't change people's minds by posting anything. I don't try to, I only want to defend the God I love and His word. As much as many of you are standing for what you believe in I'm standing for what I know is right. I stand as a Christian who tries to follow God's law and His Son Jesus.

Re: “God and gays at Harding University

ok now i am not angry i'm not mad at anyone for what they struggle with i am only sad. and if we are going to go on the logic that you want to put on my comment then i am a follower of satan as well.
i sin too.
not the same sin but i do sin. God in His infinite grace sees all sins the same, and i try to too. but as humans we put more emphasis on one sin and not another. homosexuality is one of the things God Himself mentions in 1 Cor 6:9-10, in Gen 1:26-27 it talks about God creating woman to be the companion of man. now i'm not taking the bible out of context. it is speaking about sexual immorality in Corinthians, i mentioned that in my comment earlier. i'm not saying that people who sin are followers of satan i said we believe his lies. there is a difference. if i follow satan then i have given up on trying to do what is right and want nothing to do with God. but to believe his lies is to sin. and everyone EVERYONE including ME does this. again on taking things out of context, i have now used verses from both old and new testaments, you however have only quoted from the old testament and as a follower of Christ i know that once He died and rose again the old law was done away with. i challenge you to find a stoning of a child that was condoned by Christ himself. or any murder for that matter that was encouraged in the new testament of people who were doing their best to serve God.
This is a christian university, whether or not you believe in the one and true living God you have to determine. i am Not condemning people to hell because they struggle with certain things because i know i struggle with certain sins, but God's grace offers forgiveness, that's why He is such a loving God and that's why telling His truth is the universities responsibility.

Re: “God and gays at Harding University

i think that as an institution who stands for what the bible says it is imperative for the university to take a stand against the things God Himself says is wrong. but don't hear me wrong i don't think God sees people who are gay or lesbians any other way except for His children who have been led astray by the father of lies. Same for the people who tell little white lies everyday, or the boy or girl who lusts on occasion, or even the people who have made more life changing mistakes and had sex before marriage and got pregnant. this is not an issue of people's freedom being restricted, it is a matter of people knowing the truth and trying to justify it. people who are not gay do this too, I do this too. it's human nature but it's not God's nature. i stand behind the university in their policy of love. if they did not love their students enough to tell them the truth or try to seek to help the students then i would be greatly concerned.
