Re: “Foes of horse slaughter cheer Congressional victory

Here is a great suggestion, Ms. Julie....help stop the backyard breeding. If you can't afford to keep or care for a horse for 30 years, don't get it. Also....I know you know this. Horses are dosed with tons of medications since they are not raised for food, i.e., bute, fly spray, on and on. It has been CLINICALLY PROVEN to cause long term serious health issues, including aplastic anemia. Since you are posting links, you might enjoy this article from Forbes magazine that talks about the real ramifications of horse slaughter when it comes to an area: I have educated myself....especially galloping on the back of a horse. If you can handle a dose of reality, I suggest you really research the subject. You will be shocked. It is well documented that horse slaughter does not bring an economic boost to a community, in fact it is just the opposite. The former Mayor of Kaufman, TX, where Dallas Crown horse slaughter facility was located will be happy to fill you in on the accurate details of the nasty predatory business. As a matter of fact...this article actually really spells it out for you, and beware because some of the descriptions are grapic. If you are picturing some pretty, little happily running facility with gleeeful, happy, smiling horses gently being led in, it is more like the sound of horses screaming...all day long: http://www.forbes.com/sites/vickeryeckhoff…
