I guess we shouldn't expect any more, or better, from someone posting under the name "olddoc." Before any serious consideration is given to tort reform, someone needs to give some thought to reforming the way in which medical services are provided. Each year roughly 100,000 Americans die as a result of avoidable mistakes by doctors and hospitals. Odds are that few of those died because a doctor afraid of getting sued ordered an unnecessary MRI or medication. Far too many doctors worry more about money than they do the well-being of their patients -- perhaps they should give at least equal attention to the quality of the care they are providing.
