Re: “Court of Appeals upholds denial of a fence in Quapaw Quarter

I can't believe 8 in of fence is causing such an uproar! No offense historic preservationists, but until recent history quapaw has not been a place people would venture to unless you wanted to see vagrants roaming the streets or napping on historic properties. It is because of people like the owner's of THe Root, Cowan, and Boulevard that your neighborhood is becoming revitalized. If you want to save your neighborhood and sustain it, support those who are investing in making it a nicer place. It's not like they're tearing the house down and building a bank. Ask yourself if you would rather have a 4ft fence addition to your neighborhood(wrought iron which is pretty dang expensive) or another empty lot. Seems pretty basic.

Re: “Court of Appeals upholds denial of a fence in Quapaw Quarter

This posting interested me enough to make a trip to the quapaw quarter yesterday, and specifically this property. Unlike the picture posted, I encountered a home which had been painted in warm yellow hues, corbells and railings which had clearly been carefully restored, and a fall arrangement on the front porch... Oh and a wrought iron fence surrounding the property. I saw a young family playing in the front yard with a pony-sized great dane! I applaud these young people trying to make a difference in our city and spending their time and resources to preserve one of the most historic structures in the state of Arkansas. Cowan's please do not be discouraged by the recent opinion. If you ask me, your fence looks a bit short. Czdc shame shame, why don't you bully the homeowners who let these beautiful homes/structures rot?
