Re: “Tom Cotton goes to the outhouse

I was five years old before my family had indoor plumbing, and apparently if Cotton and the Kochs had their way, I would still be using the outhouse. It is a cinch I will not vote for him, nor will my 87 year old father and 84 year old mother, both now in long term care paid by Medicaid.

Re: “Lyons: Government spending truths

Once upon a time I taught American History and civics. My students mostly complained that they just did not need to know that stuff. Now they don't, and no doubt they are the ones who support the tea party and other idiots.

Re: “Nate Bell's shot at Boston heard 'round the world

Perhaps someone could point out to Mr. Bell that the second suspect was captured as a result of one of those cowering Bostonians checking his boat apparently without an AR 15 or even any weapon and then calling law enforcement.

Re: “Arkansas: Red state on female mortality

Does anyone see a correlation between the reds here and the reds in the last few presidential elections?

Re: “UPDATE State lawmakers: 1 in four did not darken doors of college

If three quarters of our "legislators" have college degrees, their alma maters should be embarrassed.

Re: “The TV effect

As sort of an aside to this article, I saw an earlier comment on the Times that it may be pushing for cameras in courtrooms. As a lawyer and part time judge, I am opposed to this for basically the reasons outlined in the above article.

When the lawyers and judges in a trial get a chance to be television celebrities, you get an O.J. Simpson trial that lasts for months. That case would have been tried in a week in any Arkansas courtroom.
