Re: “Harding responds on blocking gay website

Our curfew is at midnight, thank you very much! : )

I try to approach all situations with logic. As demonstrated by the above posts, emotional spiffs have no foundation and get confusing. I'll let you know if I see any facts that need to be straightened out, and that's all I will do.

Re: “Harding responds on blocking gay website

I'm a Harding student, and I read all the comments above and I laugh a bit. "Harding University and Westboro Church are no different"? Uhm. Wow. That's like saying China & Iraq are totally the same because they're both overseas and not part of 'MERICUH. That's all I'm going to say about that...

Harding isn't "fealing" any heat; all we feel is a bunch of faceless strangers making uneducated comments about matters they do not understand. The problem with all of the outsiders is that you don't have all of the details. In fact, you almost have no details whatsoever. If this applies to you, tread with extreme caution. Or not. This is, after all, the internet.

There are many sites blocked here, sites relating to drugs/porn/etc.

I feel little to no pity for homosexuals; they came here. To a private Christian university. Their parents made them come here? Hmm, then I guess if there is a problem, it should be with these cold, uncaring parents. All students fill out numerous forms, paper after paper, basically saying that they're officially signing away all their rights and they'll abide by the rules of Harding. I'm bound by those rules, too. I'm a 22 year old man; I am legally able to do just about anything I please. Yet under Harding's rules, I am not allowed to have sex (straight or otherwise), smoke, or drink.

The difference? You're not going to see me crying to every news station and blog, complaining that my rights have been taken away by "Big, Bad Harding". I put my own rights aside, I signed off on them, so I can be a student here. They did, too.

Simply put: It's Harding's house. It's Harding's rules. To sign away your rights and become a student here, then complain about what YOU did, makes as much sense as wrapping your entire body in bacon and jumping into a lion enclosure. Jumping out of a plane without a parachute. Covering yourself in gasoline and lighting a match. Showing up to work drunk as a skunk, then wondering why they fire you. Yes, you have the ABILITY and the RIGHT to do all of those things...but don't be surprised when consequences follow your actions.
