Re: “Federal officials acknowledge that Hutchinson's bureaucratic trainwreck in Medicaid caused significant coverage losses

Ramsey has it exactly correct. Asa's main intent of this program was to kick off as many people as possible in order to help cover the cost of the large tax break for the wealthy of Arkansas. Cindy Gillespie is clearly incompetent in her position. Her theory of on-line only helping people become computer literate is like cutting off all food to a person and say "it will help them lose weight". Many of these people didn't have internet service OR a computer. How is one to gain skills in something one doesn't even have the equipment? Well, Asa sure didn't spend a dime to educate these same people on what they should do. They just bounced their names out of the program. I always enjoy it when our state makes national news and almost ALWAYS for negative stories about our state government.

Re: “Where there's smoke: There's the tobacco lobby with one last legislative handout

I would like to know WHEN the people of Arkansas will finally recognize now much influence all these paid lobbyists hold? It just doesn't seem to click with residents that so many very bad laws have originated from the lobbyists organizations. These laws actually are harmful to our residents (this isn't party talk..). I personally know a few lobbyists and they would sell their mother if it got them more money. I have seen them support both parties as long as the party passes their special bills no matter who they hurt. It is a pathetic situation.

Re: “Garner v. Chesterfield on problems in Venezuela and closer to home

Dullrazor, DO please tell us the horrors of Chesterfield's idea of polling in Wal-Mart???? Why should we make it easy to vote when you have the GOP doing all they can to LIMIT avenues to vote. They claim fraud, yet the biggest vote fraud case so far was the GOP of NC. We SHOULD be making it easier and not harder to vote. Then we wouldn't end up with idiots in the WH like the current occupant. Garner has not passed one single piece of meaningful legislation. Much like the revered Stanley Rapert, yet they get re-elected time and time again. Says so much about their constituents.

Re: “Senate committee defeats bill to allow four more years of state control of Little Rock School District

Vanessa, my own Senator Irvin has not voted on SEVERAL very important bills this session. I think if they can't make a decision, they don't need to be in office. While I generally disagree totally with Missy's bills and votes, at least she needs to stand up right or wrong. Elliot is amazingly on target and does so with integrity. Something sorely lacking in our current Legislature.

Re: “Another hit on the Little Rock School District

I just emailed everyone on the committee (other than those opposing SB668), not that it will have much effect. Those who vote for this will make it crystal clear they intend on totally break up LRSD (just look at the disaster this has been in New Orleans). They took over the district with scant reasons, controlled it for almost five years with NO real attempt to help the district and then changed the testing procedures where more kids fail testing. They have sucked the whitebread students out leaving mostly those with poverty, home life, mental issues in the district. The district has to take any and everyone and has to cater to ALL their needs. Charters and privates do NOT. How is this fair??? They have the totally unqualified Key (ne Walton) calling the shots for his mentors in NW Arkansas (btw, follow the dollars going to Key), These small town legislators need to remember this can also happen in their town... or maybe they want this to happen. Who knows. This is an experiment with our kids education and the losers will be the kids. NOT the Waltons.

Re: “Internet sales tax increase, corporate tax cuts clear House committee over car wash tax objections

Has ANYONE bothered to count up the total lost revenue from the tax cut for the wealthy, highway taxes and now this new corporate tax cut??? Asa must be trying to win the prize with Kansas as the biggest financial disaster in the country. Unbelievable. Oh SURE... all these huge corporations are waiting at the state line to open businesses here right after this cut.

Re: “House beats another minimum wage rollback bill by Robin Lundstrum

SHE is our "checks and balances"???? Did I miss that part of the Arkansas Constitution??? What about the C&B for our esteemed Legislators who keep passing clearly unconstitutional laws and the state spending tens of thousands defending and ultimately losing???? This woman clearly needs more education.
