  • First-hand: 20-week abortion limit is unfair

With Rep. Andy Mayberry's bill to ban abortions in Arkansas from the 20th week of pregnancy onward currently delayed in a Senate committee, there's still time to hear from those who think this legislation has negative consequences for women, in addition to potentially running afoul of federal court precedent.

Re: “Tax cut bill falls short in first Senate vote after defeat of effort to limit benefit for the richest 1 percent

JJ, they expunged the vote, so the Governor gets a do-over (hmmm, much like the ethics rules). The Governor and his team will be leaning heavily on those Senators who did not vote to get the 27 votes he needs.

Re: “Former Governor's School leader objects to change in nature, location of program

Thank you, Dr. Haggard. Governor's School was an exceptional experience for my daughter for precisely these reasons. She did not need more of what she received at her high school, where she received an excellent education, but a different learning experience altogether. Our gifted and talented students deserve special services, but these are difficult for most schools to provide. I appreciate your perspective and reminder of the purposes of AGS.

Re: “The Asa on the Move Edition

Is improving the sound mix a possibility? I found it very difficult to hear Jay Barth.

Conway voted in favor of a 3/8 cent sales tax for roads. Unofficial count 59% for, 41% against.

Re: “Mother and child in Little Rock homeless camp

The only shocking thing is that people are shocked by this. There are many children living in tents and cars. Our child poverty rate is 23.8%. 75% of children in Little Rock Public Schools receive free/reduced price lunch (up to 180% poverty level - most are below the 130% poverty level to qualify for free lunch).
