Re: “Musing over Miss Arkansas

"please. It's nothing more than pretty girls strutting around for attention." To those who believe this statement to be true-- I challenge you to sit through a singular Miss Arkansas interview. I can assure you that the questions asked demand an intelligence and poise that is not portrayed in this article. I can also promise that when you are required to speak eloquently and efficiently for 10 minutes about any variety of topics including politics, social issues, and any current event in our world, attention gained from your physical appearance is the last thing on your mind. I wouldn't expect the uneducated and inconsiderate to understand, however. Frankly, the contestants in the Miss America/Arkansas program don't need me to defend them. Their success in life speaks for itself. Be careful, though, the next time you need a doctor or lawyer or pharmacist here in the Natural state, it's a good chance she was one of those "attention seeking beauty queens".
