Re: “Lawsuit challenges Interstate 30 widening project as too wide for bond money

Too bad ADOT hasn't done much research on induced demand or maybe they just don't care. That money could be much better spent on public transportation and safe biking infrastructure. The health of human beings, animals, and the planet (all interconnected and ONE, IMO) depend upon us getting our act together. Transportation is one of the top sectors for greenhouse emissions and we can easily reduce it with the right people in charge of city planning, transportation planning, etc.

One of the big reasons I moved from Little Rock to Chicago is to reduce my dependence on a car and get around easily without one. Chicago public transportation is not perfect but I have lived here for 4 years without a car and I love my quality of life. I jump on a bike in the morning and ride the .5 mile to the train station and bike 1.25 miles to work if I don't feel like waiting for the bus. Too bad folks in the Little Rock metro region don't have much choice in how they get around. The streets are not designed to accommodate folks on bike and most of the drivers are too impatient or ignorant (meaning they haven't been educated on proper road etiquette) to give bike riders enough clearance when passing.

Re: “Missouri shows us another corporate welfare flop

Couldn't they have just sent 48,000 people a check?
Even better, let's just stop believing in paper money and go to a resource-based economy. Food and shelter provided for. You only work for the "extras" and all your health care needs will be provided for, acupuncture, massage, Reiki, etc all provided for as well so no one feels left out.
