Re: “Juanita's is moving to the River Market

Amen on blocking off the streets and having outdoor beer stands. I'd like to see bands set up and play outside like on Dickson Street. LR has been held down way too long. It's always been too controlled.

Re: “Juanita's is moving to the River Market

Do any of y'all know what all is going to be in that new 4 story developement that is going to be built down in The River Market and the timetables? I was riding around and saw the sign. Also I noticed that over on either 3rd or 4th st they were tearing a good sized building down. What's up with that. I hope it's not another Stephens property that he plans to turn into another parking lot. He's been tearing down alot of buildings he owns. Starting to look empty down there.

Durango, what's this Dreamland Ballroom that you speak of? Where's it going to be? As for Robinson, great venue and I've seen many shows there but I much prefer bars. The musicians are accessable. I've gotten one of my guitars signed by several acts at Stickyz, Rev, and Juanitas. I'd like to see the Rev twice what it is. I know it can't happen in that building though. What's going to be in that new 4 story developement that's to be built down there?

One thing about Juanitas moving, I'll probably never again hear music in the room that Townes Van Zandt played in.

Re: “Juanita's is moving to the River Market

I'd love to see someone put in a 1,000 seat music venue down there. I have no doubt that we could support it with the bigger acts they could bring in like Steve Earle. We won't be getting fast rising acts like Ryan Bingham and DBT much longer with what we have. We need venues that would attract Guy Clark, Lucinda Williams, John Hiatt, etc. It's high time LR came out of the dark ages and developed a REAL music scene that these and other acts would seek to be a part of. LR needs a music identity.
