Re: “Still more harm to the needy alleged in lawsuit

When asking for durable medical devices under my sons dds plan I was told by the case manager at Abilities Unlimited, Jonesboro AR. "If you hurt you back lifting your client I will be glad to file workers compensation for you". $7,500 dollars a year budgeted into his plan and over a decade nither Focus Inc. or AUI were able to access and provide durable devices. Many promisis broken, years of request disregarded. When we became vocal we lost dds from AUI at the last minute, with no transition plan. This needs to be looked into by those to whom they answer to.

Re: “Legislature attacks poor with restrictions on assistance money

Its a dog eat dog world and the legislature makes that apparent.
Seems like it time to flush a the House.
Let them eat cake, how did that work out?

That you would do the least of them you do unto me.

Seems the state is seeing how far they can push the federal mandates before another lawsuit is brought titled, United States of America vs. The State of Arkansas

Re: “The competing Medicaid plans and the DD wait list

What we need here is more over-site, more men in the middle, more in home visits, once a month is not enough, more job creation on the backs of the disabled, more paperwork, more rules, more name calling, more paid surveys by company like Stephens Group, more grants to teach parents how to take care of the disabled to stay qualified to take care of them after dealing with their problems for years before help arrived, more affirmative action, more Politian's arguing over .3 million dollar difference, less choice, more forced incentive plans, more charities with more administration, more of the good old Reagan trickle down economics. The system is clearly broken and no amount of money can fix it. Ammend that.

Re: “As task force tackles Medicaid reforms, consultant will analyze alternatives to full-risk managed care

10-8-2015 Governor Asa Hutchinson made the announcement that John Selig would resign his post effective January 1, 2016 in the following statement issued Thursday.

I heard the appointment of a new DHS head on a live feed. Interesting it was, in that the person being recommended was to inter the office at a substantial salary increase.

This person was put up for this by Gov. Asa Hutcheson and the committee was to take the Salary rise and the person as a package or not at all. Several in the meeting were not completely on board with this. One was from ASU. He was immediately cajoled on the expansion at the campus and was stated that the cost of it was not as much as his pool house. This person did not speak again. Another person who relied on e-mail to speak was present but not able to communicate with the board to technological problems. He was given as a yes by the chair on the vote. One lady clearly did not like it because it was presented as a package deal and declined to vote.

This loosely defined Quorum did agree to the chair's appointment for the new head of DHS.

I am sorry I did not get the name of the chair, but I believe it to have been the Lt. Gov. and I am not sure of the person to be the appoint mentee.

My question is: what has happened that John Selig's departure?

There is a recording of this conference call.

Re: “Melissa Stone to lead Disabilities Services division

You probably don't want to know what I think and/or hear what we have gone through with the DDS Waiver Provider system.
I won't speak against this appointee until I have further knowledge of her.
But the System has been broken for years. Look up USA vs Arkansas, Mike Beebe, Governor and DHS 2009 and another suit 2010, both dismissed. Both suits are exactly what we are going through. To be dropped from a program with no transition a week before Thanksgiving and with absolutely no warning is more than unjust, it is cruel.
Having a disabled child is tough, having a disabled state government makes it tougher. #thesystemisbroke
