Re: “Prosecution makes its case in Naramore child death

These situations must be prosecuted, because there are parents who deliberately kill their kids in this manner.
It compounds the tragedy for the poor folks who are grief-stricken and guilt-ridden to have to be prosecuted for accidental child deaths, but sometimes there are terrible consequences for mistakes and being preoccupied and human. I just hate the whole thing.

Re: “French Hill drags out Old Blue; Huffington Post drags out the rest of the fleet

French Hill is a nice guy, and as close to royalty as you will get in Arkansas. His Arkansas roots go back pretty much to the beginnings of what we now know as Arkansas, so he definitely has bona fides as an Arkansan. I think that French Hill feels that he is doing what he was elected to do-further the interests of the banking industry, of which he is an integral part.
Living so far beneath one's means, ala Sam Walton and his truck, does come across as a bit disingenuous and phony, but Mr. Hill is old money, and acts like it, which is okay by me. Would you prefer he were as ostentatious as Trump? Hey-the guy is rich, so why shouldn't he send his kids to a better camp if he can afford it?
To the extent that we have a representative democracy, the system has worked through having theoretically ethical and reasonable people in elected offices. Members of these representatives' districts would petition these elected officials either in person or through lobbyists to try to get legislation passed that was in their personal best interest, and people with opposing interests would do likewise. The elected official hopefully would act impartially and do what he thought was in the interest of the greater good.
The problem I have with French Hill is that, as far as banking goes, he IS the lobbyist, and has little interest in hearing about anything that the banking interests in Washington don't want to happen. That's how legislation regulating the banking industry never happens, and the greater good succumbs to the short-term profit motives of banking or whatever industry the legislator represents.
