Re: “Arkansas treats children of same-sex couples differently from other kids

Linda Collins-Smith has joined the class of Ballenger, Rapert, and a few others as being the most closed minded politicians in AR. Among other things, she is the main reason we now will have guns in bars, universities, and until they changed it, athletic events. The majority of Arkansans were against this, but Smith and others continue to vote their ideological ideas, as opposed to what constituents really want. Same applies to this adoption law. It SHOULD strike these members that if AR is THE only state with this law, it should be changed.

Re: “USDA files complaint over wildlife park in Northwest Arkansas

Doigotta, Turpentine Creek is a great facility that takes in all the abused big cats from around the country. People have no business owning these big cats, but MO has no laws regarding cat ownership so often they are abused and kept in tiny cages for years.
The park in the story received a gift from a state Representative who passed a law letting this guy get all the benefits of a licensed zoo, but it didn't have to meet the standards. Now the leg is trying to pass an ag-gag law making filming of abuse illegal if done on private property.

Re: “House passes bill to force building sales to charter schools

The Walton mafia tried this bill two years ago and it was defeated. Looks like they bought off enough of our legislators to get it passed this session.

Re: “House passes bill to force building sales to charter schools

Our esteemed Legislators are only doing the work for the Waltons. I'm not sure why we are so blessed to have the Walton's interest in our public schools, but I assure you, our blessing will be the ruin of any form of public schools. When did public schools and teachers become the bad guys? There are certainly problems with the public schools, but taking money and now property away from the public school systems is certainly not the way to help make improvements. They want "choice", but provide NO avenue for public schools to remain viable.

Re: “Republicans resist legislation to encourage more voter registration

Ballenger is THE worst person we have in the Legislature and that takes a lot these days. The mere fact they suddenly require financial impact studies for something to help voters, but don't for something that hurts voters, speaks volumes. Our Legislature continues to do all it can to take our state farther and farther backwards.

Re: “A morals clause at the emergency room: Your legislature at work

Linda Collins/Smith is a good person, but this bill is wrong in so many ways. They are putting forth a bill that would be a pandora's box to used at the whim of ultra conservatives. The mere idea that a health care professional could deny help for a woman who's life is in danger unless she has an abortion is just not rational. What if a person were about to die without help, but the Dr. finds out the person is gay and decides not to help based on his "beliefs"? This is far fetched, but certainly possible.
