While the state takeover may look good on the outside, it is one of the chocolate candies with a nasty center. Services have been cut to students, special education students are in classrooms maxed out and gifted and talented students in the middle schools are no longer in programs to enrich their education. Aschool that has been ranked in the top 100 by Newsweek has a principal that no longer encourages education but graduation. Parents are no longer included in any decisions by the Central Office. Many good teachers are leaving the district because some building administrators have become despots. So, before praising what is occurring, please look deeper than the thin outer coating.
