Re: “Arkansas takes the lead on abortion bans — for now

Ethel, tell me why a baby conceived of rape is any different from one conceived as a result of a consensual act. Do you think it's the baby's fault? (If so, I find that not simply weird, but sick.)
I've tried to address that issue and found myself spluttering, incoherent, and seemingly inconsistent. My almost inexplicable reasoning? In part because I don't believe a woman should be forced to bear a child whatever her reason may be.
It looks like I'm still spluttering.

Re: “Arkansas takes the lead on abortion bans — for now

One single no vote? ONE?
Of course. Make sure every woman who becomes pregnant bears the child no matter her situation. Well, unless the pregnancy is a result of rape, for such a child surely would be an evil spawn.
(No, I'm no more endorsing the idea that a rape victim must bear any resulting child.)

Re: “Senate committee approves curb on edible and drinkable medical marijuana UPDATE

I've hoped for a giant sinkhole to open up under the Capitol before. Sigh. It hasn't happened yet, but I'm still crossing my fingers. Information about any additional options to bring this about are welcome. During the current legislative session would be perfect.

Re: “Former Little Rock ICE officer reveals forgery on warrants for detained immigrants

Sounds like a loosey-goosey situation where Oxley went a step too far. Of course, loosey-goosey indicates the need for a MUCH closer look at the whole situation. Who knows where a respectable investigation will lead? Dare we hope for one?

Re: “A new day dawns for ballot petitions

Picture me showing you the circa 2011, ergo currently in effect, redistricting maps illustrating Arkansas' 4th (middle finger) and 1st (bent knee), Stuart Soffar, aka Razorblade.
Now show me an old redistricting map that's quite so egregiously one-sided.

Re: “Legislators blasted for late-night override of voters on minimum wage increase UPDATED TWICE

Okay, I want to see a list of those who attended this late night session, AND a list of those who didn't. For starters, they ALL need to be buttonholed and asked why they did or did not attend.
Could be we need a Stephanie Flowers on that committee, to say nothing of all committees. Break the mirrors and blow out the smoke.
Oh, and Robin TT, this is all the more reason to vote, and twist the arms -- verbally, of course -- of those who usually don't to do so.
Let's find out exactly who participated in this travesty, then contact anyone we know in their districts, starting now. A modification of the saying "It takes a village" is as applicable here as anywhere.

Re: “Tuesday's open line and news roundup

For your information, Razorblade, that was Bobby BadCat. He and his housemates Sandy (a Corgi) and Hanna (a Doberman) ruled their humans' house for many years. They also ruled a herd of abandoned puppies I later brought home. (The herd lived in the yard and yes, I was and am a soft touch when it comes to animals.)
All are long gone. At present I'm guarded by a herd of cats. No dogs right now, but if I watch the cats, I can often tell when something's up outside. One of them even growls when she hears something unusual.
Oh, and Bobby BC stays right where he is.
