Re: “Beware of Republican senators bearing tax cuts

Trickle down? Are you sure they don't mean "tinkle down on you"? (Hey, I'm trying to be nice. Christmas is around the corner.)

Re: “Another anti-abortion law blocked in court

Of course, saving every fetus no matter the situation is of paramount importance to certain politicians, no matter the office they occupy.
(I can hear those politicians now: That's supposed to be "unborn baby"!)

But, but, but ...
"Congress missed a Sept. 30 deadline to extend funding for CHIP, as the Children's Health Insurance Program is known. Nearly 9 million youngsters and 370,000 pregnant women nationwide receive care because of it."
(Five states will run out of money to provide care by the end of the year or shortly thereafter, with others to follow as their funds are expended.)…

Now doesn't that make you feel all warm and cuddly?

Re: “Huckstering: Money sought for film about Mike Huckabee's rise to governorship

Hey, Huckabees gotta eat, too Wannabee.
Not that I'm feeling generous to their cause. Plenty of other causes out there. Good ones.
BTW, I still haven't heard how the Huckabee manse on the gulf sands fared during Irma. I'm amazed we haven't seen Mike and Janet groveling in the wake of the disaster. But I suppose even they have better sense considering the widespread damage caused not only by Irma, but also by Harvey and Maria. Probably they think this is a better shtick.

Re: “Memphian named as new Little Rock fire chief

Dunno a thing about fire departments, LR or elsewhere -- and not much about anything else, I'll admit -- but why do those in a position to do the hiring seem invariably to look beyond personnel already a part of the department?
Over a number of years down this way, repeated hirings of head honchos from outside the police department resulted in a series of gawd awful messes. Now I'll admit my knowledge of the department is superficial, but the current chief and the man who preceded him, both long time members of the force, seem to have put it back on track.
Is there really no one currently a member of the LRFD who is capable of leading the department?

Re: “Trump endorses accused teen molester

Why would the woman, or any woman, come forward after a long ago molestation experience, Razorblade?
I can tell you. You remember my post about the three girls I know about who were molested in my community? I was one of those girls. This is the first time I've ever revealed that. Why? Because I was ashamed, ashamed that I was foolish enough to trust a person I thought was a "nice" man. Maybe ashamed that I'd done something wrong, although I finally got over that idea. Naive? Yes. Wrong? No.
After that? I knew it wouldn't serve any purpose to reveal it, that I'd likely be the one to suffer.
The one time I seriously considered saying something? When I found out the man and his wife were babysitting their great granddaughter. But I wasn't brave enough and I wouldn't have been believed anyway, of that I'm fairly certain. That's not to say I didn't worry every time I thought about it. I was relieved when I heard that the man had died.
The women who've come forward in Alabama? They suffered in silence for years, shoving it to the back of their minds. Coming forward now, surely suspecting what they would face? They're far braver than I am. Yes, I believe them.

Re: “State employee keeps job after texts with teen

Okay, since I've overcome my computer problems for the moment, I have to ask this: Why wasn't this guy wasn't fired long ago?
Does the examiner have something he can hold over the head of Colonel Bryant or someone else in the political power structure? Let's see, northwest Arkansas, Springdale specifically ... who do we know from up that way who could run that much interference?

Re: “Give us your tired, your poor .... and Trump will harm them

It would be nice, Razorblade, if the president recognized that the law, ALL laws, apply to everyone.
That should include Trump, his family and his cohorts. It should NOT be subject to change on a whim. Example: "Sure, my son/buddy/supporter can bring an elephant tusk home from his African hunting trip. Stupid law anyway. Have fun, guy."
Yeah, he reconsidered (maybe). But that only shows how much thought he puts into his decisions. Not, you understand, that I think he's truly capable of making well-thought-out decisions.
Oh, the Haitian children likely will have "return rights" when they grow up? Just how healthy and well educated do you think they'll be under the circumstances? How well will they fit into a society that in effect threw them away when they were children?
It really is time for our fool president to learn and show a little compassion. (Yeah, I know what many of you are thinking, probably the same thing I'm thinking: Fat chance.)
