Re: “Plans dropped for Muslim neighborhood in John Barrow

A ghetto, Gyl (and baker)? Ever heard of gated communities? But that aside, where people choose to live -- and why -- is their business. It's not mine or yours.

Re: “Little Rock to sell $90 million in bonds to build Southwest High School, do other work

Sounds like a case of "I'll do as I damned well please."
But that's all I have to say about it, having enough to worry about down this way. (Football field? We are in dire need of football field, etc. improvements? Seems to me that voters down this way said "Are you nuts?" to the then -- THEN, I say -- school board. And I'm still waiting to see what's to be done with a largely surplus campus.)

Re: “Another week done. Open line, news and comment.

Thank you, Norma, for the digest of Steven E. taunts and insults. I knew he has taken to the dark side, but I hadn't realized just how far.
A thought someone we know all too well, if not personally, would share: Sad. (Accompanied by a shake of my head.)

Re: “Former Arkansas Democratic legislator lands on Trump vote fraud commission

Stu, I suspect -- no, make that I KNOW -- that if you compared my signature after age 30 or so to the one on my original voter registration form, you'd swear it was fraudulent. And it's even more striking (and largely illegible) now. Only the caps have survived the intervening years more or less recognizably.
What made the difference? Taking notes. Carefully formed letters were tossed out the window when speed was needed.

Re: “Bullets fly repeatedly in Little Rock

Better yet, cbb, wall 'em in like our esteemed leader wants to do along the Mexican border. Maybe install a few "good guy" sniper outposts. What could possibly go wrong?

Re: “Deputy's family accepts waiver of death penalty for triple killer

Killing three people at age 42, I have to guess Bowden was headed this way most of his life.
How can we as a society intercede before the horror and violence? Is it even possible when a pattern has become ingrained as it must have been?
For that matter, is there a point in early life when such a development might be short circuited? (I'm thinking of the teenagers who killed the grandparents of one of them not so long ago.) When? And how?

No answers here.

Re: “Lend me your ears: 'Julius Caesar' opens at UCA tonight

Next I suppose one of our esteemed legislators will insist that even the original play be banned as high school reading material. Or has that already happened?
