Until you actually get into politics, even on the most basic local level, you don't realize how hard it is to organize and find volunteers. It's just plain hard work. Patronage fuels political parties (along with corporate funding), wasn't it even mentioned in the Federalist papers?

So, you need money to get power and power to keep jobs. Lenin would understand, Tea Baggers are not a cohesive group and will always self destruct when they get close to their goals. Unless a strongman like a Lenin or Hitler uses them as the stepping stones. Then after the strong man seizes power he will purge the party to get rid of the "loyal opposition" within the party.

Right now, they are still fun to watch But so were the National Socialists in '31!
