What does being married have to do with being gay?

Re: “Walker/Joshua agree to school settlement

Strangelove,

Why is it that everyone of your posts has this underlying theme of the "black bogeyman?"
Take some time away from the blog and go meet some real people other than the scary black stereotypes that constantly spin inside your head.

Re: “Blue Hog Report raises numerous questions about Lt. Gov. Mark Darr's spending

Not surprising, since this Tea Party imbecile can't even manage his own personal finances. I am sure that he will explain this away similarly to how he lied about forgetting monthly mortgage payments as bank foreclosers sought a piece of his generous backside.

Both he and the ethically-challenged BlueDog Dixiecrat, the honorable Paul Bookout, should resign immediately. Even though Arkansas can't boast a gaqgle of trustworthy politicians, if these two are the best that the respective Democratic and Republican parties can give us -- then it is time to blow up the current system and start over.

Re: “The Bookout matter: What next?

For the sake of real ethics reform, this lobbyist-owned Dixiecrat should not just resign -- but he should have his ass thrown in jail.

Folks are also tired of Democrats and Republicans attempting to make the leap with voters that somehow one party is better than the other. Both Little Rock and Washington, D.C. are infected by parasites and ethically-challenged ne'er do wells in both major parties. If life was fair, the current lot of politicians would either be in jail or ostracized by normal society, rather than elected as guardians of the America way of life.

That Bookout will likely end up serving another term after committing what is clearly a criminal act -- when in fact he should be shackled and treated like a petty thief -- is simply a reflection of where we are as a society.

Re: “Acxiom to open park at River Market headquarters to public

70%er,

Think Harley Davidson or Starbucks, when you think of the lifestyle industry. Not only do these brands sell motorcycles and coffee, but their devotees tend to embrace a certain lifestyle that can be marketed in a number of ways (T-shirts, coffee mugs, motorcycle rallies, pens and pencils, social media and Internet fan sites, etc ...)

Seems like North Little Rock folk should give some lessons to the Stodola and the tech park dummies on the other side of the River on how to foster innovation and bring startups, new industry, tech-related businesses and venture capital to urban settings.

Re: “Little Rock call center to add 200 jobs

Companies like FIS always have their hands out for corporate welfare, although in a few years they will outsource those same jobs to India or China. Mayor Stodola and Chamber of Commerce are intent on making Little Rock and Arkansas the call center capital of America, and there has never been any thought of implementing some serious clawback rules when companies like FIS start cutting people loose.

Sames goes for companies like Dassault Falcon and the Allied Wireless/Alltel/AT&T, who are serial corporate hogs that the city and state have to slop with new tax incentives every few years. In today's corporate landscape, instead of managing their businesses by hiring and keeping competent and well-paid workers, CEOs have learned to cut jobs when the economy is tough and hire a few back when the economy improves, along with padding their own parachute pay packages.

The City's/Chamber's slogan and pitch to business community should be: "Come to Arkansas, where unions are not welcome, minimum wage and no health care is the standard, and tax subsidies are free."

Re: “Black Caucus to hold vigil in response to Trayvon Martin verdict

I'd much rather Love and the Black Caucus pay more attention to issues that affect my voting rights and pocketbook. This is the same black lawmaker, who said he erroneously voted with the white caucus to override Gov. Mike Beebe's veto of the Voter ID bill requiring voters to show photo identification at the polls.

Love, the Black Caucus and the Democratic Party were also silent when Rep. Walker was attacked by the racist Tea Partiers like for drawing attention to the history of Arkansas' disenfranchisement of black voters.

Holding a vigil after the fact will probably get lots of media attention, but most black folk are simply sick and tired of speeches that build political resumes and dog and pony shows that bear no fruit.
