Re: “Obama endorses same-sex marriage

Good Job Obama!

I find it sad that Americans so willfully choose to abridge the rights and freedoms of other Americans, all in the name of God.

The religious definition of marriage (the union of man and woman [women] before God). The Government definition of marriage should be the union of one consenting adult to another consenting adult, period.

To all the Arkansas political representatives: God has no place in your government job! You have not been voted in to proselytize or enforce others to live by your religious constraints. You are not there to think of yourself. You there as a representative of a diverse community and should make your decisions based on how it affects ALL members of the community, not just the few. Because the LGBT segment of your community are likely the minority, is it not your job - therefore - to protect their interests more vigorously from the majority?

For all you religious folk who wish God to have a representative voice in our Government: Move to the Middle East! Look at the three-thousand years of war and misery because of fervent theocratic governments.

There are more important things our politicians should be talking about:
1) ELECTION REFORM - This is my number-1 priority. Our elected officials should be free from the undue influence of lobbyists or corporate interests. I think it's natural for corporations and lobbyists to seek time with our elected officials. I do not think, however, they should be allowed to spend any money for that time!

2) ECONOMIC RECOVERY - This is tied closely to our China policy. We MUST begin rebuilding our manufacturing, research and development base. We MUST encourage China, and all countries, to establish a rigorous policy protecting intellectual rights from illegal copying. China has only been so successful because they can rip off the ideas of every other country without ever contributing anything of their own. A flat-tax with no loop-holes should do it. OR, better yet, eliminate income tax all together - it is unconstitutional anyway. Instead, apply a penny (ten cents might be better) federal taxes to all products and services, food or otherwise, and watch the money roll in. The IRS can then bully corporations for their accounting records to ensure taxes are properly collected.

3) SPACE DEVELOPMENT - Our country used to be the premier source of human scientific progress on our planet! We must maintain this dominance. Let's not leave space development to the billionaires and corporations. If governments had not stepped in to aviation, we wouldn't have the cheap commercial flights around the world. Now, space will very much be the realm of the rich and the corporations. Our government should not allow them to have so much hold over it.

4)CHINA - This country is an economic and, now, military threat to our safety and security. They now own so much of our debt, they dictate our policy! We need to preserve our country from this very real threat by investing in American manufacturing companies.

5) CORPORATE REFORM - Companies should be held responsible for their actions and should not be granted unending tax compensation. I do think it is necessary for corporations to be granted initial incentives to encourage start-up and a competitive edge. However, they should not expect long-term subsidies.
