Re: “The Hot Springs woman in the paper mask

I have known Andi for over three years. She has represented me in several matters. She is an intelligent, insightful, ethical legal professional. I expect one day, she will herself wear the robe and discussions such as this will never involve her courtroom. I know Andi very well. She is proficiently skilled in abruptly destroying a fabrication. I have witnessed this many times. But she is not one to pick a fight that is better left alone, or rather to arbitrary accuse anyone of anything. She is not a 'victim' type. She's a strong person with strong convictions. She doesn't always win but that isn't her goal. Her goal is to see justice done. Her concern in this matter is not for her wardrobe or her dislike of paper masks. But when a person with the power to effectively ruin or spare the life, liberty and/or pursuit of happiness of another individual may possibly be or simply appear to biased due to their choice of representation, then justice CANNOT be found. And since justice is of utmost importance to Andi, this situation is quite urgent.

Should a person be forced to choose their legal counsel based on the judge hearing their case? Or should they suffer undue punishment due to the judges dislike of their attorney? Or on the other side of the room; should a person who is neglectful of their children and an addict be awarded custody of any child because a judge just can't get past their personal feelings about the other attorney?
