Re: “Change for the homeless

We all have our vices, we all have our problems. There are people that are well off and are dunks and drug addicts. Most of the homeless have mental issues, sickness and other problems.
Whats wrong is not the people asking for money, but the real problem is we covet our money putting a value on a dollar that exceeds human life.
If there are 2000 homeless in little rock, then we need 2000 millionaires to pick a homeless person and help them. Or better yet every person the entire state of Arkansas could donate ten dollars and end homelessness today in Arkansas. With that money homes could be bought cars could be bought. Help those who have lost privileges to drive, get their licence back and jobs. Build confident people that see that they have support and people to help.
No it wouldn't be easy, but possible.
The problem ain't the homeless.
The problem is,, not enough people care.
Now for the truth, I am homeless. I'm sitting here out side a pilot truck stop on their WiFi. 2 years ago I lost my wife and kids because my wife decided her college classmate made a better partner. I hitch hike sometime 300 miles to see my babies for the Holliday's.
I got a job my first check was 325.00 for two weeks, after child support I had 70 dollars left they suspended my licence until I could afford to pay 500 a month. I was only making 600 a month where do I live on that.
It hit me hard. And another homeless man wrote me a sighn that said anything helps. And for the first time I held a sighn. I only made 45 dollars in 10 hours but at least I had a place to sleep, a cold beer and some TV and a microwave samwich for dinner. I feel bad that I can't support my children more, I feel I'm sinking farther into depression, I have no licence to drive anymore. Its hard to find work with no wheels at least one where I could earn enough to pay for my children and get a place to live.
And every person that drives by and says get a job or calls me some name. Just makes me want to jump head first under the next car coming.
Thank god he gave me my kids, because their faces and memories and hopes of finding a way to see them is the only thing that gives me hope.
I wish one person would help, homeless shelter gives a place to sleep and food.
But I need love and a hand up, not a hot meal and held down.
Sometimes people fall and have a hard time getting up. Some never do. But dose that give us the right to ignore human life.
I will make it back to where I was and have my life back. Because god told me I will.
Thankfully I have my dog and my god. My dogs my best bud on earth he's been a good dog for nine years. And a good protector the last to years of homelessness. God has been more than I can explain.
I hope this helps some of you understand why and how homeless are homeless. And trust me non of us want to be here.
And for those of you reading this that have it all and think of us as scum. Just know that if you ever fall. There will be a homeless man there that already knows the struggle, that already knows the ropes. That will show more compassion to help you survive. Than you did to help him live. Even through all his evil, hurt, anger and fear. He will still offer you a can of his Vienna sausages of some of his chips or a drink of his beer. And be your friend, until you see that its not the things of the works that make the man. Its the man that makes the man.
To the homeless, never steal, always ask for help. And pray that god gives you the streanth and hope to carry on.
