Re: “'We are here, and we are here to stay': Scenes from the Women's March for Arkansas (updated)

To Paying Top Dollar for Legislators: you are in denial buddy: It took the RNC, Wikileaks, the FBI and Russia to narrowly bring Hillary down in an election she won by nearly 3 million votes. Need I mention that to win the house, the RNC had to gerrymander districts and restrict voting access. And you wonder why we are protesting?

I understood what you meant... we South Dakotans always thought North Dakota was an afterthought.

Re: “UPDATE: State college scholarship cuts run deep

So let me get this straight, the reason we are having trouble is that students are actually interested in pursuing higher education and seeking help to do so? And the state's response is to cut the funding so that less students can get scholarships or grants and use the part of the current budget to prop up the lottery reserve account and not honor this year's commitments? That makes no sense unless this state wants to produce service jobs rather than doctors and other professionals.

The problem here is that the state shouldn't have made students believe that the professional schools could accept them as one of the contract Arkansas students. The state should have notified the professional schools before the admissions process that the cuts were made or imminent and BEFORE the deadline for accepting the position in the class. My Daughter accepted her school on April 4 at which time she was informed that she had one of the Arkansas Contracts. She received no notice from the state that cuts would affect her standing in the class. LSU informed her YESTERDAY. Cutting the grants on July 1 is cruel and irresponsible. As such, the State needs to fess up and provide the support.
