Re: “Sheridan High squelches yearbook profile of gay student

As a fellow gay high school student (who's apart of the New Jersey National Guard hooah!) I've had troubles from my school as well. I was told that I would be denied prom if I had a male date. What appalled me the most was only male/male dates are not allowed, female/female are perfectly fine. When asked I was told "Well, girls like to go as friends." An answer I don't approve because one, why can't guys go as just friends? And two why can they bring a friend but I can't bring my boyfriend? All in all this is a battle I'm fighting in my school. I've not decided if I'm going to prom but I'm still gonna fight for students in the future. So the point of me saying this is we should fight for this boys cause! The fight isn't over, together we can do something!

I understand bullying is terrible, I understand where the school is coming from. But they have to understand where we're coming from! We are tired of being someone we are not! We have been in the closet so long, these schools are not gonna force us back in! I fight for the US Army! I fight for the LGBT Army! If anyone needs someone to talk to due to bullying feel free to message me! That includes the boy in this article. Everyone have a good day! Thank you.
