Re: “Pressure increases on GOP Medicare vote

It's ok to spend hundreds of billions bailing out investment companies, but not ok to fund Medicare and Social Security after decades of stealing from it to pay for other programs. Do Republicans ever stop to think any more?

Re: “Cornyn says GOP health plan 'identical' to Obamacare

"Obamacare would reduce Medicare benefits."

Are you saying that or the Republican? That's what Republicans have said, but it's savings not reducing benefits.

The difference is "Obamcare" doesn't leave you paying the difference between what the government pays and what the private insurance costs.

Re: “The Obama plan

The top personal income tax rate use to be 90% in the 1950's under a Republican. Pres. Kennedy/Johnson lowered that to 70%. President Reagan lowered it to 50% and then 38% in 1987 and 28% in 1988. First President Bush raised it back to 31% due to deficits. President Clinton raised it to 39.6% and left office with a $270 billion a year surplus. President Bush cut the top rate to 35% and the debt soared again.

Now some who aren't even in the top tax bracket and never will be, would rather cut disability, medicare and social security so the millionaires and billionaires can keep their 4% tax cut. At a time when the top 1% has the largest share of our country's wealth in history and workers' wages have fallen over the past 10 years, I think they can give back 4%.

Elections for new districts will be Nov. 2012. Then those who are elected will take office in January 2013

Re: “Redistricting compromise headed to law books

The only way to keep the districts smaller is to split up Pulaski County and/or the 4 counties along I-540 into two different districts. Since that wasn't done, we get Searcy County and Chicot County in the same district and Madison County and Ashley County in the same district.

Is it not true that state legislatures can change congressional districts every two years? Didn't the Republican in Texas do that? If they get control over the legislature in 2012, could they change the districts?
