Re: “Bribes bought legislation for youth services nonprofits, says federal plea agreement of former Democratic state senator

They're all full of $hit. Ark gov leaders and legislature have always had corruption. Why do you think the state remains poor and below the national averages in almost every important statistical category? The more wealthy the individuals have been, the more egregious their corruption has been. This guy Wilkins is a petty case compared to the long history of "good ol' boys" and their networks of nepotism. It's third world, literally.

Re: “UAMS will reduce workforce by 600 positions, including 258 layoffs: UPDATE

The university takes 50% of researchers' grant money and give them little support in return. This is why many researchers leave. Grants are hard enough to get now. But when half the grant money is taken with no support services provided, I can't see how any researcher will stay very long.

Re: “UA trustees approve selection of Cam Patterson for UAMS

"His total pay will be $1.2 million, including deferred compensation" ... "UAMS' is running a deficit of $72 million and it's expected that turning that around is going to cost jobs and programs" .... Looks like more of the same is coming soon. 80% of employees are being paid below local market averages, many are being paid as low as 75% below local market averages and below the state payscale. The state adjusted their payscale back at the beginning of this fiscal year (July 1, 2017), increasing the starting salaries for all grades. UAMS announced they were not state and would not be adjusting with the state.

Re: “UAMS layoffs begin: Update

Joanimal isn't far off from the truth. Ark is a pretty corrupt state. Lower income states tend to have higher levels of corruption. The same is true for lower income nations. There's a reason why they remain lower income.

Re: “Cotton joins Boozman on Senate budget committee

These people are backwards buffoons that are out of touch with reality, and are a total embarrassment.

Re: “UAMS will reduce workforce by 600 positions, including 258 layoffs: UPDATE

Dinosaurs with ideas that the rest of the world has done away with many years ago. Bring in a humdinger like Rahn, who can't manage his way out of a paper sack, but who was very happy to be paid handsomely while following the agenda. Rahn, in line with the goals, brought in more hardliners to cut down departments, making the place quite dysfunctional. Then, Rahn packs up and leaves, after having made his millions. Just leave the mess for somebody else to clean up, usually for a much lower salary. Doesn't anybody wonder why BOTH finalists for Rahn's vacant position backed out of the job? The facility didnt even show depreciation of assets. Absolutely horrible management, shady at best, and a huge lack of state funding and no state gov oversight. Ark is truly backwards in so many ways.

Re: “Tax legislation heightens inequality, limits state governments. No wonder Tom Cotton loves it.

Time to try a different approach. One the US has never done before. One that many countries in the developed world are now using, democratic socialism.
