  • The quiet initiative — the push for medical marijuana

It's a robust year for grassroots democracy in Arkansas. A measure to increase the natural gas severance tax, pushed by city governments that want road improvement money it would produce, may be headed to the ballot.

Re: “David Couch confident on medical marijuana ballot title

Support the real medical marijuana/cannabis campaign, Arkansans for Compassionate Care. The campaign that made the ballot back in 2012. ACC has had over 1000 volunteers signed up to help and we currently have upwards of 57,000 signatures. ACC is the campaign that the actual patients support, not a corporate controlled mess of a law that is overseen by the Alcohol Bureau Control. David's law reeks of cronyism and is similar to the disaster of a law that failed in Ohio last year. ACC's law is overseen by the Arkansas Department of Health. Re: “Medical marijuana advocates unhappy with Attorney General Leslie Rutledge blocking ballot iniative

We don't need another medical marijuana proposal to be certified. The Arkansas Medical Cannabis Act of 2016 was certified by Attorney General McDaniel before leaving office. And the group Arkansans for Compassionate Care, the same group that made the ballot and were narrowly defeated in 2012, already has 55,000 signatures in hand. Re: “McDaniel rejects another try at medical marijuana initiative

The proposal was from A4MC, not Arkansans for Compassionate Care. The group that made the ballot last year is also in the process of getting their medical marijuana ballot initiative certified.

Re: “School board members question selection of Milton

Have you seen the McPherson & Jacobson website? How could anyone hire a company with a website that poorly designed?

Re: “The medical marijuana push in Arkansas

Gary, It will help many people. And although NORML is a little critical of some parts of the law, in the end they support it.
