Re: “Bill introduced to ban Howard Zinn books from Arkansas public schools

To ban any book from an American school is ridiculous. No one is promoting this book to be part of a curriculum. We are not talking about putting playboy magazines in the library. It should be in school libraries. Student's should have the ability to do outside research and read Zinn's book critically and then disagree with it or agree with it.

Withholding information from our children is dumb. Banning books is in direct opposition to the ideals of democracy and free will. It is also in direct conflict with republican ideals. A government restricting access to what books a child is allowed to access infringes on the child's rights. We need to move away from fear and have more trust in our children's ability to be discerning and give them choices.
