Re: “Three for Texas

Having been to the Renaissance Festival many times, I expect you will enjoy the visit. Also, since you will likely be going down US 59, just remember that Northeast Texas is just about like Arkansas but the flavor changes at Nacadoches when the Southeast Texas flavor takes over.

Re: “Illegal immigration solved

Could this be one of those "Be careful about what you wish for" events in Georgia?

Re: “The line is open

With the recent revelations about how our elected officials find ways to pad their pay by hook or by crook, it appears to me that the best way to slice some of the legalized theft by legislators and unnecessary expense of 75 sets of county officials is to simply cut their numbers in half by forcing adjacent counties to merge (with the larger county becoming the county seat unless a majority vote wanted the smaller city to be the county seat). This would halve the local number of officials.
The number of legislators then would be cut to 50 representatives and 17 senators to represent the remaining 37 counties.
Remember, the reason we have so many counties is that the county seat was deemed necessary to be close enough to the citizenry to make a visit to the courthouse by horseback or carriage but that doesn’t seem to be a very valid reason given today’s transportation.
I say cut the number by one half as a first step and then tighten the ability of legislators to “find” business in Little Rock on a daily basis while the Legislature is not in session.

Re: “Tea Party plans Wisconsin sabotage

Co Led do you have a clue as to just who agrees to the wages desired by the union? In case you don't, it is the responsible leaders of the state agency who is negotiating with them and all they have to do is refuse to agree to outrageous wage requests which leaves the union with the options of accepting the state's position or going on strike. Now since they (the state) caved and gave in to the union requests it is pretty clear to me that the state leadership is the culpable party in this case.

The same is true in the private sector where unsustainable pension and medical positions were agreed to by the leadership of the automobile manufacturers and it finally bankrupted them but all we hear from the reliable right is that it is the union's fault when nothing could be further from the truth.

Re: “So much for ethics reform now

Adoption of the Walmart rule is long past overdue as is the prohibition on paying per diem.

Re: “Immigrants: The Christian thing to do

If you really want to control illegal immigration then start with civil penalties against the employers and escalate the civil penalties to criminal penalties and the illegal immigration will die a sudden death.
