Re: “Mike Poore: Not ready to comment on latest charter school expansion in Little Rock. PS: Looks like fix is in.

I was going to agree with aqua blue until they had to throw in undocumented aliens. Good Grief.

Re: “eStem branches out

Estem has a lot of problems to fix. Up until this year I had three kids there since the day they opened. It is a mostly a completely new set of teachers every year. High turnover bleeds into the school year so that one of my kids has had three teachers the first two months and another kid in the high school didn't have teachers in two classes the first two or three months. The has been a persistent problem the last few years. Estem AP scores have only a 19% pass rate compared to 60% pass rate at Central. Their grade inflation was at 20% compared to about 6% in the state. And probably the root of the problems is the number of inexperienced teachers. Their average years of experience is 1 year in the high school and 0 years in the middle school and it is noticeable in how the class is managed. Central is not the scary bad place so many want to make it seem like. It is refreshing to have so much opportunity for my kids that wasn't not at estem. The experienced teachers are so much better at handling the class and curriculum. (numbers on from the school report cards by the ade)

Re: “MAPCO tries to gussy up convenience store; fails

A convenience store is not a gas station. Your link is not correct. As someone who works, lives and kids go to school downtown, I still need gas. I have one choice: Shell. We do need one just not the mapco location. My car is hard to start on EZ market gas so I can't use the one on Main Street.

Re: “Little Rock South Main St. bike lanes coming soon

There are plenty of alternate routes to use instead of Main Street if you are trying to get around. As it stands, the needs of the neighborhood are more important than making sure there are multiple speedways for you to get across town. This is what is good for Little Rock, governor's mansion district and the other neighborhoods in the area.
