Re: “NBC reports on sex abuse of foreign exchange students

First of all I work for an Exchange Student Program and I can tell you my company (these girls are not part of my company) is very much associated with the Dept of State and we have very strict rules and regulations that we are required to follow. All host families are background checked and have to have several refrences no matter if they have kids or not. All area reps are required to have close contact with all their students and I can honestly say all my students that I have placed and supervised are all in loving homes and well taked care of. Dont judge all Exchange Student Programs the same, because believe me they are not all the same. The companies that do their jobs and follow all the strict guidlines mandated by DOS are always having extra training and new updates in rules and regulations along with loads of paperwork to turn in on each student monthly that is followed up on by DOS.... also FYI host families pay NOTHING for these kids to come!! The Kids natural families pay for everything their child needs and the host families are only required to treat them like family and give them a loving supportive home.
