  • NEW SON VOLT: At Sticky Fingerz.
The talent stream to Austin’s South-by-Southwest showcase and music conference runs at least partly through Little Rock, and that will bring alt-country superstar Jay Farrar and Son Volt here for a show at Sticky Fingerz on Friday, March 18. Also on the bill is alt-country singer-songwriter Anders Parker, the former Varnaline and Space Needle frontman who has a recent full-length CD release and an even more recent EP in tow. Showtime is 9:30 p.m. and tickets are $15. Farrar reassembled Son Volt with new musicians for a tour and album (untitled as of now) that’s due this summer. The new group with Farrar includes bassist Andrew Duplantis, guitarist Brad Rice and drummer Dave Bryson. Farrar, formerly of Uncle Tupelo, formed Son Volt after he and Jeff Tweedy (who would found Wilco) went their separate ways. Son Volt connected immediately with fans in 1995 with the album “Trace,” which featured the alt-radio hit “Drown” and “Windfall.” Son Volt followed that up with “Straightaway” and “Wide Swing Tremolo” before Farrar began pursuing a solo career. Call 372-7707 for tickets.

Just think: If Democrats had turned out 78,000 more votes in three states in November, people could be reveling today in the prospect of impeaching and convicting President Hillary Clinton, not Donald Trump, as some Republican lawmakers had promised to try to do if she won.
