I was jamming with the campground crowd at a bluegrass festival in Hugo, OK. Everybody drifted to the radios in their cars and campers to hear Nixon's speech. Immediately after not a single musical instrument played while someone somewhere started singing "We Shall Overcome" Two thousand people joined in acapello. It raised the hair on my arms at the solidarity of the day. I haven't been sober since.
