Leaving aside last week's big foofaraw, there are good reasons why normal people should buy their fast-food chicken only at Chick-fil-A.

Re: “The Washington Post's Radley Balko on Frank Scott and police reform

First of all, I supported Scott and voted for him, so I'm glad he was elected. However, I wonder how much we will actually be able to accomplish. The city board of directors are the same old faces, and since they only need a plurality of votes in an election, they will be there until they retire or die. Secondly, will Scott be able to stand up to Bruce Moore, as well as to the old geezers on the city board? Kurrus might have been better able to do that, but hopefully Scott will figure this out quickly.

Re: “The Dallas police shooting mystery

As to how she got into his apartment, I can imagine a scenario. This actually happened to my son earlier this year at his apartment in Denver. It's 2 am and someone is knocking on the door. He looks through the peep-hole and sees a uniformed police officer, so he opens the door. In his case, there had been a domestic disturbance call and they were not sure which apartment, so their were checking all the units in his building. Thankfully, now, it ended peacefully. My son is young (24) and was taught to respect the police, and so didn't have any reason to be suspicious. I can quite imagine it was the same for this young man. He heard someone at his door, saw it was a uniformed cop, and he opened the door because he had done nothing wrong and didn't see a reason to be suspicious.

Re: “Question: How does a state legislator avoid filing tax returns for 15 years?

As a small business owner, if I'm one day late paying my monthly withholding taxes, I get a fine and a nasty letter from DFA. Unbelievable.

Re: “Candidate announces for Ward 1, Little Rock City Board

During the last election, I believe she had 3 opponents. And she still managed to get greater than 50% of the votes.

Re: “State Rep. Clarke Tucker rules out run for Little Rock mayor in 2018

Would love to see Clarke challenge French Hill for the 2nd District.

Re: “Razorback opponent takes pay cut if band stays home

It would be great if they could come, as I suspect the half-time show would be much more fun to watch than the game. But, as a parent of two kids in a major university marching band, I can assure you that it would cost more than $50K to travel to an away game.
