Re: “What if BP's relief well doesn't work?

The effect and purpose of this IDEA is to REDUCE BOTH THE FLOW OF OIL AND THE PRESSURE BELOW THE INTERSECT POINTS of relief well to bore hole. Thus allowing the heavy mud mix to fill the well bore with BOTH REDUCED FLOW AND REDUCED PRESSURE.

BP will want to ready several different diameter nose coned solid lead cylindrical titanium tipped rods (to prohibit sandblasting effect of lead bar).. Diameters and weight to be determined by BP engineers. If you have 40% gas mixture flowing out, this idea may work well very well.. It's the sudden release of Gas from the ocean bottom that sinks ships in the Bermuda triangle.

A chosen diameter and weighted rod will be LOWERED INTO THE WELL BORE and used strictly to REDUCE FLOW RATE AND PRESSURE BELOW THE INTERSECTING POINT OF RELIEF WELL AND FLOWING BORE HOLE.

This will also increase pressure below the heavy cylinder but not abruptly. What ever increase the rod causes will be proportionate to the decrease of pressure on the other end.

A 10 inch diameter LONG and heavy lead cylinder Rod will be lighter that 12" diameter lead cylinder and so on.

*The chosen titanium nose coned lead rod should be lowered to just BELOW the planed intersection of relief pipe and existing well bore..

Again, the effect and purpose of this IDEA is to REDUCE THE FLOW OF OIL ABOVE THE ROD AND BELOW THE INTERSECT POINTS of relief well to bore hole allowing the heavy mud mix to fill the well bore with BOTH REDUCED FLOW AND REDUCED PRESSURE.

Which diameter to be used to reduce the flow rate and still be able to be lowered down through the bore hole AND BELOW the intersect points will be up to BP engineering.

This in my opinion is the ONLY way the planned relief wells have a chance to work. Otherwise without reducing both the flow rate and pressure below the intersection points, the pressure and flow will overcome the amount of heavy mud and then you will have 3 holes of gushing oil and gas to contend with.
