Re: “More madness: ledge's gun bills

Oh no!! Rising magnitudes of gun slaughter! Eh?

As usual, your lame attempt to get your point across is to elicit an emotional response by using the race card, or the made-up statistics card, or both in this case. In my opinion it's very weak, but I suppose it's a good strategy when facts, reason, and logic are against you. I ask you, how is there a 'rising magnitude of gun slaughter' when violent crime AND gun crime is down 50% in the last 20 years? That is a statistic provided by the FBI (you might have heard of it).

There isn't some mystical 'wild-west scenario' where everyone has more guns and suddenly start shooting themselves to pieces. That is projection pure and simple.

Here is the bottom line. Less guns is a win-win situation for people like you, Mr. Dumas. You personally don't like guns, therefore if they are taken away no big deal. But are you gonna put a "gun free zone" sign on your door? No? I wonder why not?

It is because humans are an incentive based creature. Guns are the best system of checks and balances. There is an incentive for the criminal element to NOT go into a home because they know there is a possibility of that homeowner being armed. Every bullet removed from a 'clip' as you like to say (the proper term is actually 'magazine'), every ban implemented, increases the criminal element incentive to smash, grab, and make a quick buck. That is simple economic theory.

Also the AR type rifle accounts for less than 2% of all gun deaths. So what does an AR ban really do? It takes the 'scary black rifle' away from law abiding citizens. Meanwhile handguns still account for the vast majority of all gun homicides. So the AR ban really isn't even about safety at all is it? No, it's about an emotional response, or control, or imposing your own fear of firearms onto others.

Please if you're going to write an article on guns, start making sense. And stop relying so much on tired rhetoric, race cards, and red herrings. People aren't as dumb as you think.
