Re: “Bald Knob police chief resigns; cites family safety

Really? Your lack of comprehension makes me a low IQ asshole? You need to blow up your Teevee, get out of this echo chamber, and go outside once in a while. Meet some nice people and learn some damn humility.
You and I have a *natural* right to defend our lives, and liberty, while pursuing our own individual happiness.
Whether the honesty involved in openly carrying the means to defend those rights, rather than hiding those means from public view enhances or demeans those rights is the topic you've chosen to debate.
Above, you're vocally supportive of citizen carry, provided you don't have to see it, and that it's state-approved; then immediately follow up with some nonsensical pap about "common sense" telling you that the unregulated and unlicensed access to flatware will oh-so-obviously lead to an epidemic of obesity the likes of which the world has never experienced.
The thing being discussed here is not whether or not more guns lead to more violence, a proposition which is ludicrous on it's face; but whether or not public safety is enhanced by requiring those who carry to hide it from you.
I know, maybe we could just make murder illegal?

I could not possibly care less about whether you or the other numerous imbecilic emotional thinkers here "think better of me". I live in the real world where my fears don't control my thoughts.

I guess you don't have any. I'm not surprised, but disappointed that you'd conflate traffic laws with infringements on your natural rights. I know the difference, and I suspect you do as well.

Top Dollar: Apparently this is a very emotional issue for you... (Don't let the ellipses scare you.)

Steven E: I find it interesting still that you're willing to assume, absent any evidence, that Chief Balentine is the victim of "threats and violence". There are more than a few people in the local community who, also absent supporting facts, believe that he torched his own truck to get out of the monthly payment, and saw an opportunity in the controversy.
I appreciate that you've addressed the naked fear driving some of the commenters here (in your timeline), but I wasn't addressing you in my previous post. I was referring directly to the rabid pack of amateur psychologists above, who's only response to any comment is to insult and assume.

Oldphart: How about another Licensing Scheme? I don't care for the idea of petitioning the government for permission to defend my very existence.
Wouldn't care for it if it were a Licensing Scheme to grant you permission to speak your opinion either... YMMV.
I've been carrying concealed for decades, legally; and I do enjoy an open exchange of ideas, if you have any beyond the idea that you know who or what I am.

Re: “Bald Knob police chief resigns; cites family safety

Olphart: I think that's an excellent idea.

Perhaps instead of spouting off on your opinion of what I may or may not believe, please feel free to refute anything I've said, with facts.

The fact remains that all police, (regular people with jobs) openly carry every day. I'm trying to get you to examine whatever delusion it is that makes you believe that they are somehow "safe"; but that your fellow citizens (veterans, former police officers, retired school teachers, etc.) are somehow too inherently dangerous to carry a weapon... Or too stupid to maintain control of it if they do.

To Top Dollar: I'm growing bored already with the strange obsession you people seem to have with other peoples genitalia. If you have nothing but ad-hominem; educate yourself so that you might contribute something meaningful to the discussion.

Re: “Bald Knob police chief resigns; cites family safety

To those truly witty individuals who reacted to my previous comments, has it not occurred to any of you that the police open carry every day? Where is the "blood in the streets" that absolutely MUST be the result of open carrying firearms?
Maybe the police are somehow magically immune to mental health issues? No policeman has ever used his duty weapon to commit a crime against another person? You must not know any cops if you believe that this particular group of fat, middle-aged white dudes should be trusted with an exclusive monopoly on arms.
Another glaring example of this group hypocrisy is that any "civilian" who open carries must be suffering from some manhood issues, yet this same judgement is withheld if you wear the correct costume...
Like all of you, I don't need a law to stop me from carrying a firearm openly. But then again, it's never about making laws to prevent *ME from doing something stupid. Only laws to control that other guy.

Perhaps "Couldn't be dumber" likes living in a police state, where her actions are controlled along with her thoughts by whichever thug wears the stamp of government approval. I say good riddance to Airwreck Balentine and his superinflated ego.
