Re: “Department of Arkansas Heritage archeologist resigns

No doubt "Kate" means well with her quote above, but if she is a fan of music, it's a shame that she does not realize that the lyrics she quoted are those of Joni Mitchell, composer of "Big Yellow Taxi," from which the lyrics that she quoted come. Counting Crows is merely one of many acts to have recorded a Mitchell song. So much for honoring heritage and history of popular music...

Re: “Secretary of State Mark Martin's craven dereliction of duty

Why can't this smiling goober get the same bum's rush out the door as the large ex-lt. governor got?

Re: “Walton Foundation pours $250 million more into charter schools, including Little Rock

It's unfortunate that the Waltons, or the Kochs etc et al do not look with favor on the Buffalo River, since they could easily solve the situation there, by buying out the so-called local hog farmers and even buying them a new piece of land somewhere else in The Natural State where they could go about their chosen profession without harming one of the state's greatest treasures. Oh, well...

Re: “Jeff Long, UA athletic director, says he doesn't mind criticism. Really?

As long as folks like Jeff Long are brought in from out-of-state to run things in our poor backwater, fly-over state, why would anyone expect the best interest of Arkansas and its citizens to matter to these individuals, who are merely here for a time, climbing the rungs of the ath-a-letic world? Maybe if they hired some hard working sports fanatic who is a home-grown sort, things would be different?

Re: “A leg up for the Chinese

No doubt anyone audacious enough to criticize the deal on the basis of the stench that will eventually afflict the then-former tourist meccas of DeGray Lake and Hot Springs, will be told "That's the smell of money, son!" like the Pine Bluff leaders would boast in their time of creating a stink that often could be inhaled in nearby Little Rock.

Re: “Corporate welfare watch. Arkadelphia lands Chinese pulp mill, 250 jobs

No telling how many trips Asa and his posse will have to make to Chiner to discuss the matter. Meanwhile, the rest of us can sit around and hum to ourselves that ol' disco hit, "Let's Go to Stinky Town!" as we wonder how far northwards the stench will travel each day...
