Re: “A killing in Pocahontas

For the most part good and accurate reporting. I lived in pocahontas during that time and even worked for a local radio station during the years leading up to the incident. It was terrible that this was happening in our sleepy little community and most were blind to these kinds of drug activities. Pocahontas is a town nowadays that is centered on church, family values ,high school football, and helping our neighbors. Sure there was and still is methamphetamine on the street,it's a big problem here like most small towns in the south, buthe that's not what defines pocahontas or its residents.the people who live here are for the most part some of the best people I've had the opportunity to be around, most would give you the shirt off their back. That's just how people are here. Willing to help their neighbors. Is there a lot of high paying jobs here,no,but we live here because it's a safe place to live, our kids don't have to pass through a metal detector to go school. We know who our neighbors are and what they stand for,and that is good ole fashion morals and values. The negative comments above are not realistic, it's unfortunate that the people mentioned above went down this path, especially those that were suppose to be leaders of the community and I wonder just how many peoples lives were effected...the castleman brothers have always been crooked sending countless numbers of men and women to the adoc, prison, some just and some not even close to being guilty...Bobs brother Richard was as crooked as could be, he was the public defender in Randolph County misrepresenting and selling his clients down the river for years in a lot of ways he was worse than Bob. The good news is we have recovered, pocahontas now has an outstanding city police department headed up by guys and girls that have lived, and been invested in our community most of their lives, they are honest and for the most part fair. They are lead by an honest and outstanding mayor Cary Story. The city of pocahontas is also protected by randolph county sheriff Gary Tribble, who has been on the force probably 20 years and has weeded out any coruption within that department making pocahontas,ar one the safest, most friendly Christian communities on the planet. Yes there are drugs of various types on its streets but no more than any other American town. You can't judge a whole community based on the actions of a few men that were in positions of authority and took advantage of the weak, underprivileged, and poor.
