Greek Food Fest back

You don’t have to be Hellenic to enjoy what’s on the menu at the 21st annual Greek Food Festival Friday through Sunday, May 20-22, at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1100 Napa Valley Drive. An array of tasty Greek and Middle Eastern foods are offered for sale, while plenty of free family activities will include dance performances by the Greek-American Folkdance Society, Dabkeh Middle Eastern Dancers, Mirana Middle Eastern Dance Company, “Micro” Greek dancers, O’Donovan’s School of Irish Dance, and Indian and Russian folk dancers. Guided tours of the church will be conducted each afternoon by Rev. Nicholas Verdaris. Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Festival organizers have added two artists to the event: the award-winning Rip Kastaris, whose resume includes work for the Olympic Games and who has been profiled on PBS, and San Francisco-based fine jewelry artist Fanny Fish. Admission is free, and free parking is available across the street at Agape Church. Trolleys will run from the nearby Asbury United Methodist Church and Fellowship Bible Church. Proceeds from the festival will benefit the ACCESS Schools, Centers for Youth and Families, Easter Seals of Arkansas, American Red Cross of Greater Arkansas, Love Truth Care Ministries, Our House and the Annunciation Scholarship Foundation. For a complete list of menu items and entertainment events, visit www.greekfoodfest.com or call 221-5300.
