Re: “French Hill sends out desperate push poll on Affordable Care Act

Aren't those questions similar to the old "Do you still beat your wife?"

Yes, there were several others that I could have included, GFTR. Those that you mentioned, Andy Davis, Mark Lowery, Brandt Smith, and Bryan King among others.

Re: “How often should the legislature convene? It would take a constitutional amendment to change.

I was a big proponent of meeting every year, one of those being for budgeting. I was tired of seeing my agency trying to budget for two years out one year in advance. It was difficult to do when you didn't know what fires you were going to be putting out next week.

That came back to bite me and the Arkansas people in the ass. So, now I'm a proponent of the every two years for as few days as possible. The less that we have Rapert, Ballinger, Hester, and Hendrens in town the better.

Re: “Sunshine bill filed on restaurant tax records

Somebody missed my point, and, I'll admit, it was a bad example. However, my point was that just as the republicans were hell-bent-for-leather to make government transparent, they were just as quick to hide the stuff they wanted hidden...hamburger tax and chcl permit holders.

Let's face it...if you want privacy for anything in these days of data is power, you'd better find some place else to live and move to a cash only payment system. There isn't much that you do that's not made available to somebody. Personal property tax, real estate tax, shopping habits, the toilet paper you use, and how much of it you use are out there somewhere if you just look hard enough.

Re: “Sunshine bill filed on restaurant tax records

It's about time. You can find out the amount almost any employee made and how much they spent for their last meal out on state travel. However, the amount of severance tax paid for the extraction of natural resources or how much hamburger tax was paid shall remain secret and locked away under threat or incarceration.
