Re: “Trump and Cotton to reveal bill restricting legal immigration today

Let's be clear, Trump's puppetmasters only want to limit the immigration of people of non-white shades of skin. Europeans (not too tan), Aussies, Canadians and so on are all welcome! Thank God this was not the policy when Ellis Island was booming way back when............not too many of us would be here today. F the Bigotry!

Re: “Coming Monday: Little Rock Black Restaurant Week

No Wings entry would be complete without ARKANSAS BEST WINGS on HWY 107 in Sherwood (just before you get to Sylvan Hills Elementary). Arthur with the awesome dreads has a great product at a great price. Country Fried & Spicy Garlic are the choices for our fam..........but many more choices as well. Please send out your reviewers and give this guy some press!

Re: “Arkansas the goal line for Oklahoma coaches

Note to the author of this article, in most cases coaches are paid a stipend for their time spent coaching which is added to their base salary. Predominantly, coaches are teaching classes (yes PE is a class if done right!) which is where most of their salary comes from. There are a few cases in this state where a coach is ONLY paid to coach and is put in charge of organizational and administrative duties during the day but that is rare. I will say that the stipends really do not add up to the time that the coaches put in throughout the year. Do understand that this opinion is coming from someone who believes athletics is way overvalued and too much money is routed towards it and away from academic support.

Re: “Police shooting in Minnesota goes live on Facebook

Two things...............too many people are walking around with guns legal and illegal AND clearly police forces need to improve their training regimen. A potential threat does not have to equal a lethal action.........aim your gun then shoot. I sure wish the news would cover the warranted shootings as much as those that are questionable........it would give the public an honest portrayal of their profession. However, some of these shootings are completely ridiculous! A few do have hints of racism involved but most are just poor job performance or people who were poorly trained. Charging with murder won't work but manslaughter and negligence would be suitable.

Re: “Kurrus clears complaint at Jefferson School

This is one of the positives of not having someone who has become "institutionalized" by the system they have worked in and allows for more clear, large scale analysis. However, there is also a need for someone who has done their time in the classroom to understand the day to day challenges. Many districts in this state could use a good cleansing and a generational shift in leadership. Many of us out here are ready to take on the challenge!

Re: “House clears bill to pave way for Sherwood, Maumelle to leave Pulaski School District

Seems only fair since Jacksonville will be allowed to break away and the PCSSD has still not been given back to local control. Maybe Maumelle & Sherwood can create better schools that will attract families and students of all backgrounds to change their residence.

Re: “Who runs the LRSD now?

Some observations from a guy in the education biz:

1. PCSSD was in fiscal distress with a corrupt school board and superintendent so the state takeover was really the only remedy the taxpayer had as it would have been difficult to replace everyone through the voting process. It is now running in the black but not sure other issues have been addressed.

2. LRSD had (6) schools which is much less than half of its total schools in academic distress but no fiscal distress or evidence of school board corruption (except for the Nellums days). If this is precedent then many, many districts across this state had better beware as the state should be knocking on their doors anytime.

Of course, if the real reason for the takeover is based on politics, money and elitism then the state can make the rules as it goes and the fate of a free public education is in dire hands. Sad times indeed.
