Re: “Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce calls for repeal of civil rights ordinance

If your only argument for this ordinance is that if you oppose it it makes you a homophobe, or that opposition for any reason means you hate the LGBT community, then you need to rethink your position. The ordinance is unnecessary. There are always going to be haters, and an ordinance isn't going to change it. Federal laws already exist to protect the rights of all humans regardless of their race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. It's a slippery slope because while most people understand that gay people are not pedophiles, there are going to be pedophiles that use this ordinance to their benefit. Houston enacted such an ordinance and they DID prohibit gender based restrooms. That happened. Along with the craziness of their lesbian mayor attempting to go after pastors of a few churches that she didn't like due to their stance against homosexuality as a moral issue within their religious beliefs. And with the hate filled comments I see posted I'm not seeing anything that is bolstering the idea that the ordinance is necessary or that those supporting the ordinance would not cause the same craziness and reverse discrimination here.
