Re: “Delay in vote on west Little Rock housing development. Reason: politics

I'm speaking specifically of the bill mentioned in reference to Rep. Davis. It does not impact LR's ability to zone in its territorial jurisdiction. Want to kill development outside the city? Don't zone in a way that allows development to happen, that simple. Set 5-10 acre lot size minimum and that shit will get shut down. The city is in the driver seat on that. It could be accomplished easily. I've long followed this blog, but the accuracy of reporting is really suffering.

By the way, Davis sells and operates package sewer plants for small developments. So forcing development into city sewer wouldn't exactly help him, but apparently close minded folks on here are too lazy to research things. Blow the dog whistle, and the predictable outrage of the lemmings follows.

Davis' bill isn't good policy, but good God you people take a half baked, poorly informed argument and run around with outrage. It's like trying to communicate with a Fox News viewer.

Re: “Delay in vote on west Little Rock housing development. Reason: politics

You know the bill doesn't affect zoning, right? Zone the land with a large minimum lot size and sewerage won't be economically feasible... Have some credibility in reporting. Ask someone other than Jim Lynch about the impacts of the bill.

Re: “Capitol Zoning District Commission fails in House vote

At least be accurate... It was a reappropriation of prior year money that failed.

Re: “Alarm raised on Little Rock sewer bills by Andy Davis

This wouldn't benefit Davis. He sells private package plants. This would hurt his business. That said, probably not a great bill. Doesn't appear to be a deliberate effort for personal enrichment or motivated from some ill intent toward cities.

Re: “City cracks down on truck farmers

As someone that has worked in zoning enforcement in another city, I ask you all a question. Is a city omniscient? How else is it supposed to know a zoning violation occurs unless a complaint is made? That's why this whole issue has blown up. The farmer's market was set up ILLEGALLY, someone complained and BAM. It's that simple, and that's why you have enforcement that appears hap-hazard.

Blame the guy that complained, not the city, it's doing its job. As far as zoning is concerned selling fruit is just as illegal as selling cars. Where would you stand if it were cars and not veggies? Or worse, what if it were some strange religious organization that was slaughtering animals on site and selling the sacrifices to the public?

I'm fairly sure that if Jesus came back and was elected mayor of Little Rock and fixed every damned problem in this city, Max; Paul Greenberg; every resident of Lonoke, Saline, and Faulkner counties; and half the residents of our fair city would still dog Little Rock and everyone in its city government. I can at least hope Max and Greenberg have some level of insincerity, because its their job to crap on other people.

Re: “Who pays for highway work?

How about we cut out half the state maintained highways? Does every airport in the state really need to be connected by a state highway? Do we really need an 11-13 mile state maintained highway from Gassville to Buffalo City to serve the two small resorts that rest at the end of the road? Has that 5th and 6th lanes on I-30 to Saline County done anything to "fix" the traffic problem, or has it just enabled more white flight? I'm as liberal as they come, but AHTD is one beast that needs to be starved.
